Aluminum is a soft metal with an approximately silver color, characterized by its particularly low weight for metals. It has a high thermal and electrical conductivity and a lower coefficient of expansion than other metals. The material used to make cross-sections of aluminum frames is not pure aluminum but an alloy of aluminum, magnesium and silicon. The properties it has, as it is the only metal that is so light, a relatively heat-insulating material (due to its reflectivity), that does not oxidize, maintains its original appearance and requires the least maintenance expense, resulted in its impressive use in construction projects, especially after the 60s. Today it is used on a large scale for the manufacture of all types of frames and has largely displaced the other materials.
