Types of Lighting
The design and technical characteristics of a light fixture also affect its lighting performance. Two lamps with the same size and the same bulb may have different lighting performance. Luminaire efficiency is the ratio of the luminous flux emitted by the luminaire to the luminous flux emitted by the lamp. This number depends on the design of the lamp, the construction material of its reflectors (e.g. aluminum) and what other system it uses to diffuse the light radiation in the space.
The lower the lighting efficiency of a light fixture, the more lighting fixtures are needed to cover the lighting needs of a room, thus greater energy consumption and greater financial costs. Modern light fixtures have significant improvements in their degree of efficiency compared to older ones.
Also replacing the lamps and ignition system of a conventional luminaire with new generation lamps and ignition systems increases the lighting levels in the space and ensures energy savings of up to 27%.
Lighting fixtures are divided into indoor and outdoor lighting. The external lighting of a building should emphasize the volumes and some characteristic elements of it that we want to project, such as the entrance, columns, gables, etc. The interior lighting must achieve the general lighting of the space, emphasize some areas highlighting their particularity and with a concentrated lighting project some objects of the space.
