Here you will find information for
the construction of your residence

The background must be clean, smooth and level. Anomalies, curvatures and waves make the fitting and leveling of the cords more difficult. Pipes, which have been placed on the substrate, must be fully covered with a strong cement mortar to avoid damage to the floor.

Laying of nailed floor

The Framework

haro iroko
Πάτωμα iroko (haro)

The frame on which the wooden strips of the floor will be nailed, are made of pine or fir wood frames. It must be straight, without pinks, holes, scratches and be selected in the appropriate dimensions for each case (with a minimum length of 1 m), with a height of 5 cm (not less than 4 cm). They are placed parallel to each other and at a distance of 40-50 cm. The perimeter squares must be 1 to 2 cm away from the walls. The placement of the squares on the concrete slab and their leveling is done with the help of wooden blocks (sockets, wedges), especially when it presents irregularities. For their fixation, metal components are usually used such as blades, ginnets, stiffeners with expanding plugs, etc., it is advisable to use special metal supports with an intermediate NEOPRENE arrangement to avoid the transmission of impact noises. It is not allowed to nail frames with nailing tools. Special attention is required for the horizontalization of the frames. Mistakes during this phase lead to problems, which are very difficult to deal with afterwards. In gymnasiums or classrooms, a double superimposed frame of frames is constructed. The rafters of the first layer down, which are usually placed on chocks, are parallel to the lanes intended to be used. The distances of the heels and the wheelbases will be determined after study. The squares of the second layer are placed vertically on the corresponding ones of the first layer with a piece of NEOPRENE sheet at least 6mm thick interposed on the contact surfaces.
